Domaine Leflaive
Domaine Leflaive is a renowned Burgundy wine producer based in Puligny-Montrachet, a village in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, France. The estate is particularly famous for its exceptional white wines made from Chardonnay grapes. The history of Domaine Leflaive dates back to the early 20th century when Joseph Leflaive, a former engineer, inherited vineyard land from his father.
Under the leadership of Joseph Leflaive and later his nephew Vincent Leflaive, the domaine gained a reputation for producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines. In the 1980s, Anne-Claude Leflaive, the daughter of Vincent, took over the estate and played a pivotal role in elevating its status to one of the top producers in Burgundy.
The vineyards of Domaine Leflaive are known for their prime locations in Puligny-Montrachet, including Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites such as Les Pucelles, Les Folatières, and Bâtard-Montrachet. The estate follows organic and biodynamic farming practices, emphasizing the importance of expressing the unique characteristics of each vineyard in their wines.
Domaine Leflaive's wines are highly sought after and are considered some of the finest examples of Burgundy whites. They are known for their elegance, purity, and ability to age gracefully. The domaine produces a range of wines, including Bourgogne Blanc, village-level Puligny-Montrachet, and Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines, each showcasing the distinct qualities of the terroir.
