TASTING NOTES:	Served from magnum, the 1990 Unico (a blend of 80% Tinto Fino and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) possesses and extraordinarily, opulent bouquet with cassis, blood orange, Italian cured meat and crushed stone. It is extremely well defined and powerful yet succinctly focused. The palate is ripe and sweet on the entry. Vibrant red fruit, orange peel, marmalade, Asian spices all vie for attention. There is great weight and potency, building in the mouth that is rich in glycerine and climaxes with a spicy, meaty finish that tightly grips the mouth. It has a Right Bank, Cabernet Franc like persona. This is a lovely, decadent Unico that is surfeit with fresh and vitality, a Rubenesque Unico of some style. 109,548 bottles produced.

About Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero is an esteemed wine region in Spain, renowned for its exceptional red wines, particularly those crafted from the Tempranillo grape variety, known locally as Tinto Fino or Tinta del País. Situated along the Duero River in the Castilla y León region, Ribera del Duero boasts a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters, as well as a diverse range of soil types, including limestone, clay, and gravel.

The region's elevation, ranging from 750 to 900 meters above sea level, contributes to dramatic day-night temperature variations, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining acidity and complexity. These unique environmental factors, combined with meticulous viticulture and winemaking practices, yield wines of exceptional depth, structure, and character.

Ribera del Duero wines are predominantly red and are characterized by their bold fruit flavors, firm tannins, and aging potential. While Tempranillo is the dominant grape variety, Ribera del Duero regulations also permit small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Garnacha.

The aging classifications for Ribera del Duero wines mirror those of Rioja, with Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva categories denoting varying periods of oak and bottle aging.
