TASTING NOTES: The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is performing every bit as well in bottle as it promised to in barrel. Exhibiting a deep bouquet of dark berries, orange zest, rose petal, coniferous forest floor and spices, it's full-bodied, pure and perfumed, its velvety attack segueing into a deep, layered mid-palate of striking energy and intensity of flavor. This is often my favorite wine in the Dujac cellar, though it invariably takes the better part of two decades to attain a semblance of maturity, and the 2020 is a benchmark rendition.

Domaine Dujac

About Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac, a beacon of Burgundian excellence, stands gracefully in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the esteemed Côte de Nuits. Established in the early 1960s by Jacques Seysses and Rosalind, the domaine's legacy continues under the stewardship of their sons, Jeremy and Alec Seysses. Renowned for its unwavering commitment to Pinot Noir, Domaine Dujac crafts exceptional wines that epitomize the elegance, complexity, and terroir-driven expression inherent in this noble grape.

The domaine's vineyard holdings extend across prestigious appellations in the Côte de Nuits, encompassing Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Vosne-Romanée. With a particular emphasis on Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, Domaine Dujac meticulously tends to its vines, embracing traditional Burgundian winemaking practices that highlight the unique character of each terroir.

Pinot Noir reigns supreme at Domaine Dujac, and the domaine's commitment to single-vineyard expressions allows each wine to tell a nuanced story of its origin. This emphasis on the individuality of specific plots provides a captivating exploration of Burgundy's diverse soils and microclimates.

The Grand Cru wines of Domaine Dujac, including Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, stand as jewels in the domaine's crown. Celebrated for their depth, concentration, and aging potential, these wines exemplify the pinnacle of Burgundian craftsmanship.

Limited production, achieved through low yields, enhances the exclusivity of Domaine Dujac's wines, contributing to their sought-after status among collectors and connoisseurs. While not strictly certified organic or biodynamic, the domaine embraces sustainable farming practices, aligning with a commitment to environmental responsibility.

In the ever-evolving narrative of Burgundy's winemaking heritage, Domaine Dujac remains a symbol of tradition, expertise, and a profound connection to the land. The wines, a testament to the domaine's dedication to quality over quantity, continue to captivate the palates of those who seek the quintessence of Burgundian Pinot Noir.
