Ao Yun is a premium Chinese wine produced by Moët Hennessy, part of the LVMH group, and has gained attention for its high quality and unique origins. It is made in the remote, mountainous region near the Himalayas in Yunnan Province, China, with vineyards located around the village of Adong at altitudes of 2,200 to 2,600 meters. This region's cooler temperatures, strong sunlight, and complex soil structure create ideal conditions for growing grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, which is the primary variety used in Ao Yun, often blended with Cabernet Franc. The wine is known for its rich concentration of flavors, including dark fruits like blackberries and plums, along with earthy notes and spices, all supported by a robust tannic structure. Ao Yun, which means "roaming above the clouds," reflects its high-altitude origins and has drawn comparisons to top Bordeaux wines in terms of complexity and aging potential.
