Domaine Denis Bachelet is a small, highly respected Burgundy estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin, widely admired by collectors for producing some of the purest and most traditional expressions of Pinot Noir in the region. The domaine is run by Denis Bachelet, who took over from his father in the 1980s and built a near-cult reputation through meticulous vineyard work and extremely low yields.

The estate is very small—only a few hectares—and focuses exclusively on Pinot Noir from classic Gevrey-Chambertin terroirs. Its holdings include village-level plots as well as top Premier Cru sites such as Les Corbeaux and Les Cazetiers, along with a tiny parcel of the Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Production is extremely limited, which contributes to the wines’ rarity and high demand.

Bachelet’s style is often described as intensely concentrated yet refined, combining deep fruit with remarkable freshness and structure. The wines typically show dark berry flavors, floral notes, earth, and spice, supported by fine tannins and excellent aging potential. Despite their power, they retain a sense of precision and balance that reflects their terroir.

Because of the domaine’s tiny output and devoted following, bottles can be very hard to find and often command high prices on the secondary market. Among Burgundy enthusiasts, Domaine Denis Bachelet is considered a benchmark producer in Gevrey-Chambertin, especially for those who appreciate traditional, age-worthy Pinot Noir made with minimal intervention.
