Domaine Labet
Domaine Labet is one of the benchmark estates of France's Jura region, located in the village of Rotalier. Led by Julien Labet, the domaine has become one of the most influential names in modern French wine, renowned for its meticulous vineyard work and uncompromising focus on expressing individual terroirs. Farming approximately 14 hectares divided into dozens of small parcels, the estate was among the pioneers of single-vineyard bottlings in Jura and has been certified organic since 2013.
The philosophy at Domaine Labet is rooted in minimal intervention, with healthy fruit, native yeast fermentations, and patient élevage taking center stage. The estate produces both ouillé wines, where barrels are regularly topped up to preserve freshness and purity, and the region's traditional sous voile wines, aged under a veil of yeast that develops complex oxidative aromas. While both styles are highly regarded, the ouillé Chardonnays have become especially sought after for their remarkable precision, tension, and ability to transparently convey the character of each vineyard.
