Louis Roederer is one of the most prestigious and respected Champagne houses in France, founded in 1776 and based in Reims. It is still family-owned today and is known for combining traditional Champagne craftsmanship with a strong focus on vineyard ownership, terroir, and sustainable viticulture.

The house’s reputation is built above all on Cristal, its legendary prestige cuvée. Cristal was created in 1876 at the request of Tsar Alexander II of Russia and has become one of the world’s most iconic luxury Champagnes. It is produced only in exceptional vintages from carefully selected Grand Cru vineyards, with long ageing in the cellar to develop complexity, elegance, and longevity. The wine is typically a blend dominated by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, expressing both power and finesse, with notes of white flowers, citrus, red fruit, chalky minerality, and a remarkably refined texture.

Louis Roederer’s approach is deeply connected to its vineyards. Rather than relying mainly on purchased grapes, the house owns and carefully farms a large estate across key Champagne areas such as La Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs. Over recent decades, Roederer has invested heavily in organic and biodynamic practices, biodiversity, and a more natural understanding of vineyard ecosystems.

Beyond Cristal, the range includes Cristal Rosé, Vintage Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, and the multi-vintage Collection series. Cristal Rosé, first created in 1974, is an especially rare and refined expression, known for its purity, freshness, and elegance. The house also produces more accessible wines, but always with the same signature: precision, balance, and a strong sense of terroir.
