TASTING NOTES:	Full medium red. Wild aromas of strawberry and smoke plus a touch of meaty reduction. Fat, sweet and creamy in the middle, showing excellent volume for the year but not the verve or thrust of the Vosne villages. The wine's tannins coat the teeth and dry the sides of the tongue. (This wine was aged in 30% new oak, vs. 15% to 20% for the village wines.) My score assumes that this wine will absorb its oak element with time in the cellar.

About Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru

Within Burgundy, Nuits-Saint-Georges occupies a distinctive position. Rather than being defined purely by elegance or power, the wines of this appellation are known for their structure, depth, and strong sense of character. The Premier Cru vineyards represent the core of this identity, offering some of the most age-worthy expressions of Pinot Noir in the region.

One of the defining features of Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru is the clear influence of vineyard location. The northern sites, closer to Vosne-Romanée, tend to produce more refined and aromatic wines, while the southern vineyards are typically more robust, with greater structure and earthy complexity. This contrast gives the appellation a unique diversity within the Côte de Nuits.
