| TASTING NOTES: | The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Charrières is a worthy follow-up to the vintage-transcending 2021. It unwinds in the glass with notes of citrus zest, crisp stone fruit, white flowers and hazelnut framed by a deft touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, suave and satiny, with an elegantly textural attack, a succulent core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish, it derives, as readers may remember, from the upper part of a climat directly below premier cru Vide Bourse, planted with old vines on SO4 rootstock which now, in their old age, produce low yields of small grapes (Moreau also has holdings lower down in the climat, which there's less of a slope and fewer small stones, but that fruit goes into his generic bottling). |
