| TASTING NOTES: | Even in the context of this compelling vertical tasting, the 2019 Mercurey 1er Cru Pièce 15 stood out as a remarkable wine. Offering up scents of crisp stone fruit, Anjou pear and orange oil mingled with notions of fresh bread, white flowers and praline, it's full-bodied, satiny and multidimensional, with a deep and concentrated core that's girdled by bright acids and underpinned by chalky dry extract. But what sets it apart in the range is its finesse rather than its power. |
