TASTING NOTES: It is hard to believe that the chardonnay vines here are now thirty years of age, as it does not seem like so many years have passed since they were replanted. But time waits for no one! This is going to be lovely in 2020, as it offers up a beautiful nose of apple, sweet quince, a touch of fresh pineapple, a beautiful base of soil tones, beeswax, white lilies and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and vibrant, with a lovely core, fine soil signature and grip and a long, zesty and beautifully balanced finish. Fine juice in the making.

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

About Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, an illustrious Burgundian estate nestled in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits, stands as a beacon of winemaking heritage dating back to the 15th century. Led by Claire de Causans, a direct descendant of Comte Georges de Vogüé, this family-owned domaine has become synonymous with the production of exceptional Burgundy wines, renowned for their elegance, complexity, and remarkable aging potential.

At the core of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé's holdings lies the esteemed Musigny Grand Cru vineyard, considered one of Burgundy's crown jewels. The domaine's ownership of a significant portion of Musigny underscores its commitment to crafting wines of the highest caliber. Beyond Musigny, the estate also boasts holdings in Bonnes-Mares and Premier Cru vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny.

Specializing in Pinot Noir for red wines, Domaine de Vogüé's winemaking philosophy revolves around traditional practices that honor the terroir. The wines are celebrated for their expression of red fruit flavors, floral intricacies, and a distinct minerality, showcasing the unique characteristics of each vineyard.

The Musigny Grand Cru, in particular, stands as the flagship wine, a paragon of finesse and longevity. The domaine's commitment to low yields and limited production contributes to the scarcity of these wines, adding to their allure among collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts.

The winemaking process at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé follows traditional methods, including fermentation in open wooden vats and aging in French oak barrels. This minimalist approach allows the inherent qualities of the terroir to shine through, resulting in wines that encapsulate the essence of their origin.

Consistent excellence over the estate's long history has solidified its reputation as one of Burgundy's most respected domaines. The legacy of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé extends beyond individual vintages, embodying the enduring spirit of Burgundian winemaking and its profound connection to the land.

In the realm of Burgundy, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé stands as a living testament to the harmonious marriage of tradition, terroir, and the artistry of the winemaker. Each bottle from this venerable estate is a chapter in a narrative that unfolds across centuries, offering a sip of history, a taste of the land, and a glimpse into the timeless elegance that defines Burgundy's winemaking heritage.
