| TASTING NOTES: | The 2008 Cote Rotie La Landonne is the finest of these three 2008s. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by notes of black truffles, licorice, asphalt and tapenade. Medium to full-bodied and unbelievably ripe and rich, it, like its siblings, will be bottled in February, 2012. It has never had any SO2 added, so analytically, the amount of SO2 is zero, which is astonishing for a wine this fresh and lively. That is the magic of Guigal. The most prodigious vintage for Guigal’s single vineyard Cote Roties since 2003 and 1999 is undoubtedly 2009. The harvest began on September 21 and finished nine days later. |
