| TASTING NOTES: | The 1960 Colheita Tawny Port is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca coming in with 167 grams of residual sugar. This release was bottled in July 2020 with a bar-top cork. On opening, there's a lot of sugar showing here too, as with its younger siblings (they were all recently bottled), which does obscure the complexity to some extent. However, this has a very different demeanor once past the sugar. It shows off much more complexity and nuance, more molasses and seared caramel. It is still quite fresh and elegant for its age, a sunny Colheita. Not quite as intense as some in this age range, it does everything else beautifully. There is, especially, that wonderful medley of complex aromas and classic flavors in the background. The finish is nuanced and intricate. It seals the deal here. This goes down easy, tastes great and adds a lot of distinction. It's a prime-time Colheita. |
