| TASTING NOTES: | Now showing the Castelnuovo Berardenga UGA designation on the front label, the Mazzei 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castelnuovo Berardenga Castello di Fonterutoli Vicoregio 36 is a special project made with fruit from an experimental vineyard located in a warm subzone of the appellation with, generally speaking, thicker soils and more organic matter. These conditions give rise to a wine that is rich in concentration, dark fruit flavors and oak spice. The tannins are soft, and the wine is texturally rich for a Sangiovese. The style is contemporary for sure in this 13,200-bottle release. |
