| TASTING NOTES: | I tasted the very recently bottled 2021 Piedra Cachada; it was superb and even better after time in the glass. Apparently, they had bought new 300- and 1,000-liter Hosch barrels, and despite the fact that they put white wine in them before they used them for the 2020 Piedra Cachada, they ended up marking the wine too much. This 2021 is more what I expected; it’s floral, aromatic, elegant and with the freshness from the year and the high-altitude vineyards, plus the electric minerality from the granite soils. It opened up nicely with time in the glass, developing more complexity and nuances reminiscent of tangerine peel. This is superb. |
