Chambertin Clos de Bèze is one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, situated in the Côte de Nuits subregion of the Côte d'Or, within the renowned Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Planted exclusively with Pinot Noir, it is celebrated for producing wines of remarkable elegance, power, and longevity. The vineyard spans approximately 15 hectares, making it slightly larger than its famous neighbor, Chambertin, and is owned by multiple highly regarded producers such as Domaine Armand Rousseau, Faiveley, Bruno Clair, and Drouhin-Laroze.
The terroir of Chambertin Clos de Bèze features limestone-rich soils with excellent drainage, and its elevation ranges between 260 and 300 meters, contributing to the complexity and balance of the wines. Typically, the wines from Clos de Bèze are deeply expressive, showcasing aromas and flavors of red and black fruits—like cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant—along with earthy undertones, spices, and floral notes such as violets. As the wine ages, it often develops nuances of forest floor, game, and truffle. Structurally, it combines vibrant acidity with firm yet refined tannins, allowing it to age gracefully for several decades.
Clos de Bèze is frequently compared to Chambertin itself, with many considering it the more elegant of the two, offering a slightly more aromatic and accessible expression while still retaining immense depth and structure.
