TASTING NOTES: This is quite firmly reduced and completely unreadable in its current condition. There is much to like however on the palate of the sleek, well-detailed and beautifully textured larger-scaled flavors that also flash ample minerality and serious power on the slightly woody finish. This is somewhat awkward today though all of the components appear to be present for this to harmonize, especially since the very firm and robust supporting tannins make clear that this is going to require extended cellaring to arrive at its apogee. As such my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will progressively harmonize after a few years of bottle age.

Richebourg Grand Cru

About Richebourg Grand Cru

Richebourg, a Grand Cru jewel nestled in the village of Vosne-Romanée within Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, stands as an icon of excellence in winemaking. Celebrated for its red wines crafted from the revered Pinot Noir grape, Richebourg is a vineyard of distinction and prestige.

Encompassing approximately 8.04 hectares, Richebourg is among the larger Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, a testament to its significance in the region. The terroir of Richebourg is characterized by a harmonious blend of limestone and clay soils, contributing to the vineyard's unique expression and the exceptional quality of its wines.

Dedicated solely to Pinot Noir, Richebourg produces wines that are lauded for their depth, complexity, and remarkable aging potential. The Grand Cru designation attests to the superior character of the terroir and the resulting wines.

Esteemed Burgundy producers, including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leroy, and Domaine Meo-Camuzet, have made their mark in Richebourg, each offering a distinct interpretation of the vineyard's terroir. These producers contribute to the allure of Richebourg wines, which are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Richebourg wines are known for their concentration, elegance, and a complex interplay of flavors. Redolent with a combination of red and black fruit notes, floral aromas, and a distinctive earthiness, these wines showcase the true essence of the Côte de Nuits.

The aging potential of Richebourg wines is a hallmark of their excellence. With proper cellaring, these wines evolve gracefully, developing additional layers of complexity over time.

As a Grand Cru vineyard, Richebourg holds a position of eminence in Burgundy, symbolizing the epitome of Pinot Noir craftsmanship. Its unique terroir, coupled with the expertise of renowned producers, contributes to the enduring mystique and desirability of Richebourg wines on the global stage of fine wine.
