About Domaine Labet

Domaine Labet is one of the benchmark estates of France's Jura region, located in the village of Rotalier. Led by Julien Labet, the domaine has become one of the most influential names in modern French wine, renowned for its meticulous vineyard work and uncompromising focus on expressing individual terroirs. Farming approximately 14 hectares divided into dozens of small parcels, the estate was among the pioneers of single-vineyard bottlings in Jura and has been certified organic since 2013.

The philosophy at Domaine Labet is rooted in minimal intervention, with healthy fruit, native yeast fermentations, and patient élevage taking center stage. The estate produces both ouillé wines, where barrels are regularly topped up to preserve freshness and purity, and the region's traditional sous voile wines, aged under a veil of yeast that develops complex oxidative aromas. While both styles are highly regarded, the ouillé Chardonnays have become especially sought after for their remarkable precision, tension, and ability to transparently convey the character of each vineyard.

Among the domaine's most celebrated wines are Les Varrons, En Chalasse, and La Bardette, each a distinct expression of Chardonnay from old vines and exceptional sites. The estate also crafts an outstanding Vin Jaune from Savagnin and produces Métis, an unconventional red blend that has earned a devoted following among collectors.

Domaine Labet's wines are defined by vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality, and exceptional aging potential. Aromas and flavors often include citrus, orchard fruit, white flowers, hazelnut, flint, and saline notes, with subtle reduction adding further complexity. Rather than emphasizing power, the wines prioritize elegance, energy, and a profound sense of place.

Today, Domaine Labet is widely regarded as one of Jura's greatest producers, frequently mentioned alongside Jean-François Ganevat, Pierre Overnoy, and Stéphane Tissot. For wine lovers drawn to producers such as Bérêche et Fils or Morgen Long, Domaine Labet represents a natural continuation of that aesthetic: wines of remarkable purity, precision, and terroir expression that reward both careful study and long-term cellaring.
